hat We Offer: Celebrate the Season™ specializes in urban chicken coops and hoophouses, perfect for both backyard homesteading and casual gardening. We are certain that chickens and gardens DO mix, and in fact are essential for successful organic gardening. We also carry a variety of other backyard garden structures such as potting benches, composting bins, and raised beds. Our little ‘Hen House’ sales office carries a variety of seeds, chicken keeping supplies, books, housewares and more. We are located in beautiful Bend, Oregon.Our Story: Celebrate the Season™ was founded by Duane and Julie Schiedler as an extension of Duane’s successful cabinet shop, The Wood Awakening. Duane founded The Wood Awakening in the mid 70′s and has always been busy, busy, busy. He helped with the cabinets, tables, and interior elements of Deep (now 5 Spice), Merenda (now 900 Wall), Kan Pai, The Blacksmith, Volo (now Zydeco) and many other homes and businesses in Central Oregon. When things slowed down, Duane and Julie decided it was a wonderful opportunity to make a business out of their shared passion for gardening and backyard chickens.
About Duane & Julie: Duane was born and raised on a dairy farm in Mt. Angel, OR. He remembers caring for chickens on the farm, milking cows, and taste-testing the first crop of marionberries, which his father was asked to grow by the OSU Extension Service. Julie studied Horticulture at Mt. Hood Community College, and has always had a green thumb. Rekindling these life-long passions, Duane and Julie are thrilled to be sharing their passion for self-sufficiency with others through Celebrate the Season™.
